Our guest is Kim Brady of Kim Brady Business Coaching. She’s an entrepreneur, keynote speaker, author, and business coach. Her areas of expertise include business startups, team building, leadership development, and LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Recently Kim published “Get Stuck In!” – Lessons From the Pitch to Build Your Business. She’s also a co-author on an upcoming collaborative project titled “Forever Athlete” – A Collection of Stories from High-Level Performers in Both Sports and Life.

[02:08] Realizing her voice and finding a start with psychology and sports
- Kim grew up as an avid reader, wanting to go to college and become a child psychologist
- She never expected to be a collegiate athlete and get scholarship offers, but graduated with a psych degree followed by a Masters
- Friends helped her realize her voice could resonate with others
[06:38] Experiencing burnout and not fitting in with corporate business
- At 29 Kim decided to help people learn financial literacy and started working as an Outside Sales Payroll Rep for national companies
- Her desire to actually help people led to quitting the corporate business world

- Kim started a cleaning company and quickly had clients in two months
- Over ten years she built, scaled, and eventually sold her business in 2020
- For a while, she did business coaching for free just to try the idea
- She found her life story could be inspiring so she wrote her first book
[14:01] The meaning of “Get Stuck In”
- “Get stuck in” is a soccer term for putting your whole body behind everything
- You can’t get stuck on past mistakes, you have to stick in the present
- Always believe in yourself and do the personal work to get the championship medal
[20:50] How Kim slows down to speed up
- Getting rid of distractions, turning off social media, not being her job, and the business suit
- Writing down goals and taking actionable steps, helping people, and living where she wants
[26:41] Her feelings returning home as an entrepreneur
- In 2017, after 23 years away, she moved back home to California
- Her family and friends don’t understand how she could live without a safety net and job security
- She realized everyone’s job is at the whim of someone else, and now believes in having multiple income streams and building something that is yours
[32:57] Working in cycles, trying her best and then resting to recover
- Kim creates 30/60/90 day plans for work and learning skills
- She plans on doing three speaking engagements in the next 90 days and has daily tasks to accomplish that
- Her priorities for the year are to read and write more while recovering from past injuries
