Well, howdy, everyone. Welcome back to Social Media Success for Professionals. I’m your host, Heather Holloway, and I am thrilled to be here to tell you about the five essential tips for optimizing your social media profiles for maximum results.

Here we go. Alright, rule number one, your profile picture and your cover photos. Your profile picture is the first thing people notice. All right, so if you’re a speaker, a coach, a consultant, anyone in a professional service that has your name on the letterhead, make sure that you’re sharing, sharing and showing your pearly whites, let them smell sparkle, right? Because people are gonna buy you before they buy your business, you are more than your logo. So if you’re a coach, a speaker, or a consultant, you want to make sure that you have a clear, professional headshot that’s representative of your brand and your style.

Now if you do have a logo, that’s cool, you can put it up there too. But especially if you’re a speaker, coach or consultant, you’re gonna want to use your headshot. Now, make sure that your logo and your photo is properly sized for each platform so that your full logo or your full face is shown.

And don’t forget the cover photo, the cover photo on your profiles can be used as a billboard to promote your latest deal, your service, your project, maybe you have a lead magnet, something to keep in mind here if you do not use your logo. Since you put your logo as your profile picture. You don’t need to put that on your cover photo.

Okay, and here’s a bonus tip for you. Facebook allows you to edit an ad copy to your cover photo. This literally is a billboard for your service, don’t miss this opportunity to point to your audience to call out your call to action. When we update our cover photo or a cover photo for our client it gets likes, which means our followers are seeing it right when you update your cover photo. It’s a status update. It’s like a new whole new post. So you want to make sure to capitalize on that attention so that your audience knows your latest deal, promotion or project.

Rule number two, complete your bio. Look, your bio is an elevator pitch. Tell people who you are, what you do, and why they should follow you. Write in a style that reflects your brand and your voice. Your bio may be the only deciding factor whether your potential prospect engages with you or moves on. Remember to include keywords that are related to your industry, your product or your service. Fill in all the fields as best as you can. Every platform has its own rules, especially regarding the length of your bio. So you know after a few certain number of characters, Facebook cuts off your bio. So check the character count for each platform and adjust accordingly. You can also cross promote your social channels on Facebook and YouTube. Both platforms allow you to add links to your other social platforms.

And according to social pilot, over 70% of Facebook users view local business pages at least once every week. And your target audience may find you on social media by a search on Google. So if your profile is incomplete, these potential customers or clients may move on because your profile doesn’t provide the information that they’re desperately seeking to become your customer or client. So once you’ve filled out your social profiles, don’t forget to check in on your info every three to six months to make sure everything is up to date.

Rule number three consistent branding. Keep your branding consistent across all platforms use the same logo or headshot, the same color scheme and the same tone of voice. Branding is the promise that you make to your audience meaning that any time that they interact with you, they know that they’re going to get the same thing over and over again.

Listen, consistency builds brand recognition. It is the only thing really that’s going to separate you from the competition. There’s only million social media marketers out there, but there’s no other Heather Holloway right. So you want to make sure to use the same profile photo we already covered that the same cover photo we covered that your bio it should appear on all of your platforms stay consistent so you can be found and followed. If your target audience likes what they see, they will definitely crave more, your target audience will be able to spot you regardless of your social platform, putting them one step closer to working with you or buying from you.

Okay, rule number four – Post with the purpose this is our tagline. It’s what we do. No matter the industry you’re in, social media is a place where you can share your unique personality and expertise. Visual content speaks volumes. Share your achievements, useful step-by-step how tos and behind the scenes. Look at your day-to-day operations share stories, authentic stories that generate emotions. When your audience makes emotional connections with your brand, it becomes memorable to them. They resonate with it, they feel relevant they feel part of you and your story and your journey. They will want to engage with you and share your posts. Want to know how to keep your profiles growing. Social profiles will grow when you consistently post content your target audience responds to. Take note when you receive good or negative comments, and update future posts to address these topics.

Start simple and post around maybe three times a week. Share how you started your business, its core values and your mission. Then dive into some frequently asked questions. Keep it simple and post a photo of you and your team or create graphics or a short video that shows your personality. People connect with people so don’t hold back what makes you unique.

And rule number five, this may be the most important rule – listen, come in close because I want you to learn this love this and know this, ready? Engage regularly. Social media is all about being social. So respond to comments, messages and engage with your followers. The more active you are, guess what? The more active your profiles are, the more active your community is. And the profiles and the algorithm will boost your visibility. They will work on your behalf. So if someone comments with love this, you know what, give them a little heart write back, like their comment and write a short comment back.

On Facebook, you can see who publicly shared your content. If a fan shares your content, like and comment on the share. Thanks for sharing, you know, a simple and it’s it’s so simple kindness is so simple. And it only takes a moment to show your followers that you really do care about them. It always makes us smile when we receive comments like You’re welcome. You know, and social media is not a set and forget it thing. It is not a set and forget right you have to engage. That’s the secret sauce behind digital marketing that without engagement. Online Marketing literally doesn’t work.

Check this out. Imagine being at a sporting event rooting for your favorite team. And somehow by some miracle of fate, you see your favorite player walking towards you How exciting. You throw a compliment their way and they don’t respond. They keep on walking by without even acknowledging you. How would that feel that would feel awful, that would hurt me right? So failure to respond to your social media audience could lead them feeling a similar way. You or your team member needs to regularly check your profiles for opportunities to engage with your followers.
